Fern Ellis

Singer/songwriter Fern Ellis delights audiences with her first-rate voice and style, personality and joy. Whether singing with a symphony orchestra or a seventeen-piece big band, jazz combo, or solo piano, Ms. Ellis blends lyrical quality and sensuous sound with impeccable musicianship. Her repertoire ranges from the standards of Gershwin and Porter to jazz, pop, show tunes, Latin, and her own contemporary material. Fern's performances include the big bands of John Branzer, Dennis Noday, Paul Cohen, and others as well as the Sunrise Symphonic Pops, the Coral Springs Symphonic Pops, and the Hallandale Symphonic Pops Orchestras. She is the featured vocalist with the Harvey Nevins Yiddish Swing Orchestra. In addition to performing at a variety of venues in the United States and Paris, France, Fern can be heard singing songs from her CD In and Out of Love on two compilation discs, Black Coffee, Women in Jazz and Jazz in the Lobby Bar, produced by High Note Records Taiwan, distributed in Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.

Also a principal orchestral/solo flutist known for her warm golden sound, Fern plays in several local orchestras and chamber ensembles. She has performed in national Broadway shows and on many recordings, including her vocal and flute CD of original songs, No Limits.

John Branzer

Miami trumpet virtuoso, John Branzer, holds a Master's Degree on Applied trumpet from the University of Miami. He has had extensive study on Trumpet with August H. Schaeffer (Cincinnati Symphony), Dr. Modeste Alloo (Boston Symphony, N. Y. Philharmonic, University of Miami, & World Famous Conductor), Gilbert Johnson (Philadelphia Orchestra), and Arturo Sandoval (Famous Recording Artist).

John has been featured as lead trumpet & soloist with the “Big Bands” of Tommy Dorsey (with Buddy Morrow), Glenn Miller (with Ray McKinley & also Jimmy Henderson), Bob Eberle, Don Goldie, Artie Shaw (Dick Johnson), & Holiday On Ice.  He has also appeared as lead trumpeter with such stars as Art Mooney, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Liza Minnelli, Stevie Wonder, Dianna Ross, Charo, Danny Thomas, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Eddie Fisher, Barbara Eden, Arturo Sandoval, plus many more. 





Peter Vincent

Peter Vincent is an electrifying, versatile entertainer, whose dynamic songs and dances have thrilled audiences in a wide variety of settings across the country. Peter has been featured in leading roles in musical productions and delighted audiences on board several major cruise lines. Peter tours with corporate industrial shows and performs on television networks nationwide.

Peter has sung at top resorts and night clubs across the world. You can hear and see him nationally in jingles and commercials for McDonald's, Pizza Hut and AT&T, MTV, Telemundo, as well as many others. In addition Peter has shared the stage and silver screen with such stellar performers as Mary Wilson, Charo, Phyllis Diller, Diahann Carroll and Jim Carrey.

Peter just finished recording a brand new Disney CD titled "Magically Ever After" and his new big band CD "Recipe For Love".

                                 Eduard Ciobotaru

Eduard Ciobotaru graduated from the Performance Arts Conservatory where he studied Opera, Broadway Musicals, and Operetta. He won First Place in a Broadway Musical competition, and for the primary TV station in Rumania, he both composed and performed music. Here in the US, he was the 2012 winner of the $10,000 "GLEE-Give a Note" award, the only recipient from Florida to ever receive this distinction.


His newest CD release, Move To The Beat, is a musical gem that sparkles with positivity, energy, and sincerity. In 2013 he published his first sing-along children's picture book, "Who Is Stronger Than Me?," available at www.amazon.com.

Eduard is a Music Teacher at Nob Hill Elementary School. He and his wife, Cristina, and their sons, David and Kevin, live in South Florida.

The Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra is delighted to announce our relocation to the state of the art theater housed in the Sunrise Civic Center. Featuring brand new lighting technology and outstanding acoustics, this venue will greatly enhance the audience experience.

We thank the Sunrise City Commission and the Department of Leisure Services in assisting us with this transition. The new location offers easier parking, golf cart transportation from car to door, and modern facilities.

        2014 Music Scholarship Program

The Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra (SSPO) offers live, professional quality concerts of Classical, Broadway, Pops, Jazz and Contemporary music at affordable prices to raise cultural arts awareness and to engage, entertain, educate and enhance the lives of the City of Sunrise residents and the community at large. In so doing, the SSPO has created a performance based Scholarship for college students who will be pursuing a career in music. This is a $1000.00 scholarship (payable directly to the college / university) for the most qualified student based on a live audition of those students selected from the application process.

The winner of the 2013 scholarship will be announced and introduced at our first concert in October.

The City of Sunrise boasts its own 65-member orchestra - the "Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra." This independent cultural gem, founded in 1985 and incorporated in 1987, conducts its highly anticipated concert season from fall to spring each year.

For more than twenty-five years, the Sunrise Symphonic Pops Orchestra has given music lovers the opportunity to experience an outstanding array of live musical performances. Our programs have and will continue to provide musical works that include classical, pops, Broadway and contemporary selections.

Each year we are fortunate to work with a variety of guest artists from Broadway and opera to pop and big bands.
